(b.1966) Born in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, Shibu Natesan studied painting and printmaking at M.S. University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda. In 1996 he was selected for a two-year residency at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende in Kunsten, Amsterdam, which was funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands. In addition to winning several awards and scholarships, Natesan was awarded the Uriot prize at the Rijksakademie. A select listing of his solo shows includes: Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, 1998; Nature Morte, Delhi, 1999; Galerie Nanky De Vreeze, Amsterdam and Sakshi Gallery, Bangalore, 2000/01; and Sakshi Gallery, 2005. His works have also been in group exhibitions such as: Vadehra Gallery, Delhi, 1998; Saffronart in Los Angeles 2001; Saffron art & The Guild, 2004; and Saffronart and Bodhi Art, Mumbai, Delhi, New York and Singapore, 2005. The artist divides his time between Baroda and London.
