Bari Kumar, born in 1966 and based in the Los Angeles city since his early years, studied at the Rishi Valley School of J. Krishnamurti. He moved to LA for studying graphic design at Otis/Parsons School of Design. Among his other selected solo exhibitions are ‘In Absentia’, by Bombay Art Gallery and Nature Morte, New Delhi (2006); ‘Brown Is the New Black’, Billy Shire Fine Arts, Los Angeles, CA (2005); ‘Export Quality’, Bose Pacia Gallery, Chelsea, NY (2004); ‘Neither Here Nor There’, Patricia Correia Gallery, Santa Monica, CA (2002), and ‘Personal Inventory’, Patricia Correia Gallery, Santa Monica (2000). ‘Foreign Bodies’, a recent series of his work, was recently hosted at Bose Pacia, Kolkata. His work also featured at the latest edition of Art Dubai. Bari Kumar’s work is a reflection of his bicultural experiences, and affinity to two diverse cultures that influence and inform his work.
