Riyas Komu was born in 1971 in Kerala and obtained his BFA and MFA from Sir J. J. School of Art Mumbai, in 1997 and 1999 respectively. Some of his solo shows include two exhibitions at Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai, (2002, 2005) and one of his photographic works at the Guild Gallery, Mumbai, 2005. His works were part of the National Gallery of Modern Art Show in 1999 and 2000, Audio Visual presentations in Lakeeren and Tao Art Gallery, 2000, The Guild Gallery 2001 and 2002, Fine Art Company, Mumbai, 2002, `Harmony`, Mumbai, 2002, and Saffronart & The Guild Gallery, Mumbai, 2004. He is a recipient of K.K. Hebbar Foundation Society Scholarship, 1997 to 1999; Bombay Art Society Award 1996; and Maharashtra State Art Prize 1995. The artist currently lives and works in Mumbai.
