Prajakta Palav was born in Mumbai. She completed her graduation from the Sir J.J. School of Art, Mumbai where she did her BFA and MFA (portraiture) in 2000 and 2002-03 respectively. Her select solo exhibitions have been held at Vadehra Art Gallery, New Delhi (2007), ‘Corners’, Gallery Beyond, Mumbai (2007) apart from group shows including ‘50 Years of Independence’, J.J. School of Art, Mumbai (1997), Monsoon Show at Son-e-Lumiere (2000) and Jehangir Art Gallery in 2001, ‘Speed Breaker’ organized by Apparao Galleries, New Delhi (2002), Hacienda Gallery, Mumbai (2002), ‘Tongue in Cheek’, Gallery Beyond, Mumbai (2003), Miniature Format Show, Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai (2004) and ‘Future Artist’ show, NGMA, Mumbai in 2005 amongst others.
She has received merit certificate during State Art Exhibition, Nagpur (2003), Best Portrait Award and Best Panel Award, Sir J. J. School of Art, Mumbai (2000 and 1999), Kashi Visual Art Award from Kashi Gallery, Kochi (2005), and Future Artist Award from NGMA, Mumbai (2005). Prajakta Palav lives and works in Mumbai.
