Born in Bengal in 1937, he studied art at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. The veteran artist in a long, glittering career exhibited his works widely both in India and internationally. These included the British Biennale, London, 1970; Ljubljana Biennale, 1973; Norwegian Print Biennale (1974, 1978), World Biennale of Graphic Art, London, (1980); Asian Art Biennale, Bangladesh (1984), among others. A recent exhibition in Mumbai by the veteran artist provided a glimpse of his multi-hued facets oeuvre. Lalu Prasad Shaw's creations, Known for his simplicity of style and constant experimentation with a wide range of media like pastel, oil, conte, watercolor, gouache, tempera, besides etching and lithograph, his wonderful work delves into the recesses of the human consciousness.
