Shankar Ghosh was born in Calcutta in 1934. He trained at the Indian Art College in 1951 and continued at the Government College of Arts and Crafts, Kolkata. His works are fundamentally and technically superior in form, each creation is imbibed with translucent clarity and aura.
Ghosh’s sculptures are not scaled in size but demonstrate monumental stature owing to its form and composition. The process of creation and also exhibiting them enthralls him with sheer exhilaration.
His sculptures are part of the collection of the National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi and ChitrakalaParisad, Bangalore to name a few.
