Abhijit Bhattacharya is a contemporary Indian painter based in Kolkata, known for his work in drawing, painting, and figurative art rooted in the Bengal modernist tradition. Born in Siliguri, West Bengal, he earned his Bachelor of Visual Arts (First Class) from the Government College of Art and Craft, Kolkata, in 1997.

Abhijit Bhattacharya’s practice explores themes of memory, identity, and everyday life through a lyrical, observational approach. His work has been featured in group exhibitions across Kolkata, including shows organized by Bengal Painters at the Academy of Fine Arts and Galerie 88, as well as monsoon-themed group exhibitions at Shree Art Gallery.

In addition to his studio practice, Abhijit Bhattacharya has contributed to art education and institutional development in the northeast. He serves as Principal-in-charge of the Government College of Art and Craft, Agartala, Tripura, where he oversees academic programs and supports emerging artists from the region.

His works are held in private collections in India and have been presented in curated group shows focusing on contemporary Bengal art.
