Abid Aslam is a contemporary Pakistani artist based in Lahore, known for his innovative reworking of the miniature painting tradition through mixed media, perforation, and metallic embellishment. Born in 1986, he studied at the Hunerkada College of Visual and Performing Arts, Lahore, before completing a master’s program in visual arts at the National College of Arts (NCA), Lahore, in 2017.

Abid Aslam’s practice bridges miniature painting, photography, and textile-like surface treatments, often employing a unique technique of punching fine grids into paper and enhancing them with metallic details to create a sculpturesque, cross-stitch effect. His imagery draws from Mughal miniatures and socio-political narratives, reinterpreted through abstracted forms, silhouettes, and decorative patterns in a restrained palette of grey, gold, and black.

He has held solo exhibitions including Coding Labels (Canvas Gallery, Karachi, 2013), Sitaron se aage (Sanat Initiative, Karachi, 2018), and Of Land and Skies (O Art Space, Lahore), and has participated in numerous group shows such as Incubator, Milestone, We Live Pakistan, Witness to History, and the Karachi Biennale Trust artist residency (2019). His work has been presented at India Art Fair (2017) and through galleries including Koel Gallery, Sanat Initiative, and O Art Space.

Abid Aslam has received recognition including the Special Award from the Artist’s Association of Punjab (2016) and the Arjumand Painting Award (2015). He previously served as a lecturer at Hunerkada College until 2014 and continues to expand the conceptual and material boundaries of contemporary miniature-based art.
