Avinash Thaker, born in 1955 in Rajkot, Gujarat, is a contemporary Indian painter known for his landscape and figurative works that blend traditional sensibilities with modern expression. He received his early artistic initiation from his father, the artist late Mr. Sanatnaker, and later studied under the guidance of close associate late Mr. Manhar Makwana. He went on to complete a graduate degree in Arts.

Avinash Thaker's practice is characterized by a deep engagement with the natural world and the human form, rendered through a lyrical and expressive approach. His landscapes often capture the essence of the Indian countryside and urban environments with a poetic sensibility, while his figurative works explore themes of emotion, movement, and narrative. Working primarily in oils, he employs rich color palettes and dynamic brushwork to create compositions that resonate with energy and vitality.

Throughout his career, Avinash Thaker has received numerous awards and recognitions, including multiple honors from the Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi in Gandhinagar (1962, 1969, 1970, 1982, 1988, 1997, 2000, 2003). He was awarded at the All India Mysore Dasara Art Exhibition in Bangalore in 1971, the 'Atu I's National Exhibition in Ahmedabad in 1981, and the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi's All India Art Exhibition in Jaipur in 1994. He received recognition from the Camlin Art Foundation in Mumbai and the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society in New Delhi, both in 2000. In 2001, he was given an Honorable Mention at the 44th National Exhibition of Art organized by the Lalit Kala Akademi in Ahmedabad. In 2004, he was named 'Man of the Year' by the American Biographical Institute in the USA.

Thaker has held several solo exhibitions, including shows at Galerie Leela at The Leela Kempinski Hotel in Mumbai (1999), Art World in Chennai (2000), Studio 51-J in Mumbai (2001), Crimson Art Gallery in Bangalore (2001, 2004), and Archer Art Foundation in Ahmedabad (2003). He has participated extensively in group exhibitions across India and internationally, including the National Exhibition of Art in New Delhi (1978), shows at Taj Art Gallery in Mumbai (1980-1984), Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai (1987), the III International Biennial of Prints at Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal (1995), and multiple editions of the Harmony Show by Reliance at the Nehru Center in Mumbai (1999-2004). His works have also been featured in charity auctions such as 'Art for Spastics' coordinated by Artworld and Bonhams in Chennai (1999) and 'Art with Heart' by the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai (1999).

Avinash Thaker continues to live and work in Rajkot, Gujarat, where he maintains an active practice as a freelance artist.
