Chandan Roy, born in 1959, is an Indian sculptor celebrated for his expressive work in bronze.. A member of the Calcutta Sculptors collective, he has developed a distinctive practice that spans religious iconography, figurative works, and surreal explorations of the human form.

Chandan Roy's sculptures are characterized by their fluid yet dense forms, often featuring figures with near-absent or obscured faces, lending his work a mysterious, otherworldly quality. His subjects range from traditional religious sculptures of deities such as Ganesha to contemporary figurative works depicting people from various facets of society. In his solo exhibition Abohoman at Chhobi-O-Ghor in 2023, his bronze sculptures including Intimacy, Power, Symphony, and Cow Boy displayed a surreal edge, with superhuman figures appearing relaxed and unaware of the powers they possessed. His mastery of the bronze medium is evident in the intricate detailing and expressive power of his forms.

Throughout his career, Chandan Roy has participated in numerous group exhibitions at prestigious venues across India, including Chitrakoot Art Gallery, Academy of Fine Arts, Birla Academy of Art & Culture, Emami Art Gallery, Lalit Kala Akademi, Indian Habitat Centre, Jehangir Art Gallery, and the Open Air Sculpture Show organized by Calcutta Port Trust and Town Hall Kolkata. He has also exhibited at Chemold Art Gallery, Metropolitan Art Salon, Vikalp Art Shop Sculpture Gallery, Masters Collection Art Gallery, Weavers Studio Center, Mirage Art Gallery, and Ashutosh Memorial Library.

Chandan Roy has extensive experience in the construction of large-scale sculptures and continues to be an active contributor to the contemporary sculpture scene in Kolkata and beyond.
