Chinmoy Pramanick (1977 to 2013) was an Indian artist and sculptor recognized for his monumental scale, fluid forms, and dynamic visual language.

Born in Howrah, West Bengal, Chinmoy Pramanick earned a Bachelor of Arts from Calcutta University in 1998 before pursuing his formal art education at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he obtained his Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002 and his Master of Fine Arts in 2004.

Although trained as a sculptor, Chinmoy Pramanick often allowed the concept of the piece to dictate its medium, creating heterogeneous and expansive works that challenged the conventional boundaries of material and scale. Drawing inspiration from the dynamics of his immediate surroundings and contemporary society, his work served as an expressive platform for personal viewpoints and commentary.

Throughout his career, he presented his work in various exhibitions across India and internationally. In 2007, his solo exhibition, titled Germs, was held at Gallery SKE in Bangalore. His work was also included in group showcases and institutional presentations, such as Installing Life at Hacienda Art Gallery in Mumbai, Immersions: The White Cube Project at Anant Art Gallery in New Delhi, and group shows at the Devi Art Foundation, Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts, and 1 x 1 Art Gallery in Dubai.

Chinmoy Pramanick received several recognitions, including the Promising Artist Award presented by Art India and the India Habitat Centre, the Inlaks Fine Arts Award, the Sankho Chaudhari Scholarship, the Gujarat State Lalit Kala Akademi Award, and recognition at the Kashi Award for Visual Art (KAVA 2).

Chinmoy Pramanick was selected for several national and international residencies and workshops throughout his career. He was known as an artist who remained unaffected by the commercial art market boom, maintaining integrity in his sculptural practice. He passed away in 2013, leaving behind a body of work that continues to be remembered for its critical engagement with contemporary issues. The Chinmoy Pramanick Memorial Award for Excellence was established in his honor at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda.
