Debraj Goswami was born in 1973 in Serampore, West Bengal, and completed his BFA from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata (1997) He complete his MFA from M S University, Baroda (1999) where he also received the CR Dasgupta Memorial Gold Medal He has participated in many significant group shows in New Delhi, Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Baroda and Mumbai apart from featuring in the Made in India show of prints in Paris His first solo show, titled ‘Dont/Please Take It Otherwise’, was hosted at Mumbai's Gallery Art Resource Trust

His paintings comprise thought-provoking double-edged images that are laced with acrid humour According to the artist, “whatever happens around me gets stored into my mind, may be for a long time, gets reprocessed, and comes out as visual imagery” He considers himself to be the people’s artist with a mind of his own Debraj currently lives and works in Baroda
