Dhruvi Acharya
Dhruvi Acharya was born in the year 1971 and spent her early years in Mumbai She first studied at Sophia Polytechnic, Mumbai She did both her Master's and Post Baccalaureate in Fine Arts from Hoffberger School of Painting, Maryland Institute, College of Art, Baltimore This move to the US to study would inspire her to start painting about her memories of India Her selected solo exhibitions are One Life On Earth, Chemould Prescott Road, Mumbai (2008); ‘Two Plus Two Equals’, Gallery Chemould, Mumbai (2006); ‘Figment’, Gallery Chemould, Mumbai (2004); ‘Woman, Mother, Goddess’, Jehangir gallery, Mumbai (2002); solo at Gomez Gallery, Baltimore, USA (2001); ‘Three Contemporary Painters: Nilima Sheikh, Manisha Parekh, Dhruvi Acharya’, Bose Pacia, New York (2001) Her recent body of work included richly patterned, mixed media paintings layered with graphic style and narrative imagery in which she explored the complexities of motherhood, cross cultural communication, and the ambivalence in shifting locations
