Farhan Siki is an Indonesian Artist born in 1971 in Lamongan He studied Painting at Studio Seni Rupa UKM Kesenian, a Student Art Organization, before graduating from the Historiography Department of the Faculty of Cultural Science of Jember State University He initially worked in Advertising, making stencils and cutting out paper This practice eventually translated into his artistic oeuvre In fact, whatever he witnessed during his years in advertising formed the subject of his works Some of his solo exhibitions include ‘Trash Story’ at Waste Bins Comic Project, Jakarta in 2000, ‘Urban Ruptures’ at Biasa Art Space at Bali in 2007, ‘Implosion; Imperfect Signs’ at Primo Marella Gallery, Milan in 2011 and ‘Trace’ at Banca Generali, Milan in 2016One of the biggest influences for Farhan Siki is 21st century pop culture He gathers various brand logos and other symbols of mass culture and brings them to his canvas with heightened exaggeration and under the veil of parody ``I’m interested in creating juxtapositions between seemingly opposite concepts and images, showing that in the end they might not come from radically different places,” claims the artist Starting his career off from being a street artist, Farhan Siki has very quickly risen in ranks and his works are now sought after by important international collectors
