Born in 1978, in the United Kingdom, Idris Khan is an acclaimed multi-talented Contemporary British artist known for his photographs, paintings, drawings, and sculptors He completed his MA from the Royal College of Art in 2004 The artist draws inspiration from various sources including literature, history, music, art, and religion His imagery is both abstract and figurative; addressing several themes of history, cumulative experience and the metaphysical collapse of time into single moments

Khan is influenced by photography and often uses the tools of photomechanical reproduction to create his work His source materials for creating his artworks include pages from the Quran, sheet music, and paintings that are digitally layered and altered Through his works the artist attempts to reconnect with his cultural origins

He had his first solo American museum exhibition at the Milwaukee Art Museum in 2024 Khan's works have been showcased in several group exhibitions including the Solomon R Guggenheim Museum, New York; Tate Britain, London, England; Hayward Gallery, London, England; amongst others He has also been a part of several exhibitions including at The New Art Gallery Walsall, Walsall, England; Whitworth Gallery, University of Manchester, England; the Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art, Toronto, Canada
