Jagdish Chander
Jagdish Chander was born in 1954 He is popularly called an Indian visual artist He pursued his painting degree from Delhi College of Art, the University of Delhi in 1977 He also served as a research scholar at the Department of Fine Arts, University of Tsukuba, Japan from 1984-86
Chander has explored different expressions and emotions of the human face such as anxiety, happiness, triumph, anger, despair, numbness, frustration, etc His portrayals depict the real emotions of humans His work translates to the re-awakening free world as he has attained mature rational consciousness through thought, education, and experience His art beautifully restores a balance between thought and feeling
The artist genre comprises the art composition which rises stepwise Usually, he investigates the relationship between form and space as the texture is vital in his art Such revelation shows the force of the artwork as a source of society’s reflection The elements of his paintings reside in the subliminal, popular entertainment, rhetorical posturing of contemporary discourse, and frequently raised ideals represented in media
Chander received awards for Junior Fellowship in Painting from the Ministry of Human Resources and Development in 1983-84, 87-90 He also received a Japanese Government (Monbusho) Scholarship in Painting from the University of Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan in 1984-86 Along with International recognition, he is acknowledged in his home country by the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in Painting, Delhi, 1988; Sanskriti Award in the field of Fine Art by Sanskriti Pratisthan, Delhi; National Award in Painting, National Lalit Kala Akademy, Delhi in 1990; Senior Fellowship in Fine Arts from Ministry of Human Resources and Development in 1996-98 and many more
