Born in 1973 in Savarkundla, Gujarat, she completed her BFA and MFA in Painting from MS University Baroda 2001
Jignasa's name means curiosity She lives up to her name, artist Jignasa Doshi is focused on social trends, majorly in an urban context Her works criticize the unhealthy trend of attaching undue importance to the physical feature of one’s persona, leading to excessive refinement and repackaging of the human body
The artist focuses on showbiz to depict the increasing showiness and shallowness, as she puts it, under the garb of sophistication It’s a trend that disturbs her She tries to highlight it through her work Jignasa’s work not just conveys a feel but also a sense of reality She uses the technique of photo-realism to attain a contemporary hue in her creation
The painter has devoted a great deal of time to her craft and has successfully displayed her paintings in a number of galleries and museums around the globe Jignasha's paintings depict the beauty and realism of the Indian landscape Her artwork has won praise for its original outlook and ability to capture the essence of the Indian landscape
In 1998 she worked in Reliance world Painting, Ahmedabad Among her selected group shows are the ones held at Sarjan art gallery, Baroda (2005); ‘Urban Confluence’, Apparao Galleries, New Delhi; (2004); ‘Artists from Asia’ KressBronn, Germany (2004); ‘Figurative Narrative’, Bajaj Art Gallery, Mumbai (2004); ‘Group-Ungroup’, Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi (2004); ‘Female Imageries’, and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai (2003) among others She won the National Scholarship of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Department, New Delhi (2001-03), and the Junior Fellowship of Gujarat Lalit Kala Akademi in 1999
