K G Ramanujam was born in 1941 in a marginalized family His childhood has harsh and after receiving no support from his family, art was all he could hold onto In spite of a tumultuous life, his art celebrated humour and escapism fantasy While his narratives depicted visual idioms of banter, the structures that were part of his creations elucidated his technical prowess The artist suffered from schizophrenia due to which he often had immense trouble with his self-image, however he did not let it become a hurdle and latched onto his art as a channel of cathartic relief A recluse who lived in his own world, Ramanujan would often draw or paint and sell his work to fellow artists for two or three rupees, with which he would buy some foodK Ramanujan was an artist with tremendous potential who was unable to reconcile himself to reality and died when he was very young in 1973 at the Cholamandal Art Village in Chennai
