Born in 1987 in Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, Lakshman Rao Kotturu pursued his BFA in sculpture from the Andhra Pradesh University, Visakhapatnam in 2013, and completed his MVA in sculpture from MS University, Vadodara in 2015 

He spent the earliest days of his life brought up in the scenic coastal city of Srikakulam in Andhra Pradesh It was a haven abundant with the best of rivers, beaches and forests This proximity to nature eventually became an inspiration for his works The manner in which these natural themes convey his thoughts is helmed with an organic and raw approach in order to grasp and portray nature in its glory Lakshman’s use of materials transpires in a brilliant manner The thought determines the kind of material he decides to adopt

The artist known for his unique and vibrant style often fills his work with colour and movement, frequently incorporating traditional Indian elements Lakshman Rao Kotturu's art reflects his culture and heritage, and he frequently uses it to tell stories about his life and the world around him

Lakshman Roa's works have been exhibited at Chandra Ilango Visual Art Foundation, Chennai, and Sakshi Gallery, Mumbai The artist has also been a recipient of the Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation Grant In 2015, He was awarded the Chandra Ilango Art Foundation’s Jury Award
