Manisha Parekh
Manisha Parekh was born in Gujrat in the year 1964 She completed her Masters in Fine Arts from Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in 1990, thereafter pursued further studies at the Royal College of Art, London completing her academics 1993 Minimalistic with the colour palate, she uses harmonious forms to link and create a new and untold visual story Transforming inanimate objects with mortality, which gradually take on forms of the human vessel The velocity that resonates from her canvas is the after effects of clear and strategic layout Her harsh brushwork has with the passing of time evolved into agile strokes, shifting the muscular grip of the figures into more relaxed appearing figures She constantly experiments with variations of inks to derive various outcomes always reinventing her techniquesManisha Parekh has exhibited extensively in India, Germany and the United Kingdom She has also been part of the teaching faculty at the M S University in Baroda Some of Parekh’s solo exhibitions include ‘Wonder Woods’ at New York, in 2008; ‘Shadow Gardens’ London, in 2006; ‘Memory Membrane’ Mumbai in 2006, Delhi in 2004, 2002, 2000 and 1999 Gallery Foundation for Indian Artists, Amsterdam; Goethe-Institute, Bonn, in 1995 Her work has been included in conventions such as the Havana Biennale of 2001 and the Istanbul Biennale of 1999 The artist lives and works in Delhi
