Mukesh Sharma
Born in 1974, in Alwar, Rajasthan, Mukesh Sharma is a painter, printmaker, and installation artist He received his MFA in Printmaking from, the Faculty of Fine Arts, Sayajirao University of Baroda, Gujarat, India in 1998 and; his BFA in Painting, Rajasthan School of Art, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India
His works are inspired by the mythical stories and folktales from Rajasthani Miniature Paintings, Frescos, and Block-Printing of Sanganer The artist expresses his concerns with themes that reflect the relationship between humans and the environment
Sharma has received several awards and scholarships including The National Academy of Art for Outstanding Works in Art Fair, Jaipur, India (2002); Research Scholarship and Studio Grant for Printmaking’ awarded by The National Academy of Art, New Delhi, India (2000); Rajasthan Lalit Kala Academy, State Art Award for Outstanding Print’ in Annual Exhibition, Jaipur, India (2002, 2009) and more He has showcased his works through several solo and group exhibitions including “A Terabyte-ing Serpentine” an onsite project conceived within my studio space in Vasant Kunj, New Delhi, India (2013), “Shapes and Memories” curated by Ashrafi S Bhagat at Gallery Veda in Chennai, India (2019); “Parables and Paradoxes” presented by Anant Art at The Lodhi in New Delhi, India (2018) and more
