Pavan Kavitkar
Born in 1990, Pavan Kavitkar is an artist and art educator based in Nashik, Maharashtra He completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts from Sir J J School of Arts, Mumbai, India in 2014 and his Master of Fine Arts from Kala Bhavana, Visva-Bharati University, Santiniketan, West Bengal, India in 2017 His art is an accumulation of his personal experiences and observations witnessed by him in the natural and urban space
Through his art, he captures the shifts and changes during the relocation in search of work, home, and artistic identity His works are a narration of his visual story, referring to a combination of visual language developed about the characteristics of Indian miniature painting of the 17th and 19th centuries and middle-class urban architecture He is highly motivated by nature and finds the artistic creation process a medium of self-discovery The process of exchanging ideas and experiences helps him to define his own perception and question it in the context of the current time, space, and situation in which we are living and evolving
Due to his natural affinity towards sharing knowledge and experiences, he has facilitated various workshops on traditional techniques such as wash painting, paper making, and drawing in schools and colleges His works have been exhibited in various group shows including the Art Pilgrim Gallery, Gurugram, CIMA Awards Show, Kolkata, and Jehangir Art Gallery, Mumbai He's a recipient of numerous awards such as the 2021 Golden Brush Award- Artild Gallery, Bangalore, 2021, Lalit Kala Research scholarship at Chennai Regional Centre by Government of India, 2016-17
