Pradosh Swain
Born in 1972 Pradosh Swain is from the temple city of Bhubaneshwar At the beginning of his career, he completed a diploma in Photography from the College of Education and Technology, Bhubaneshwar From there he soon moved to Delhi and finished his Bachelor’s in Fine Arts in 1994 from Utkal University In 2005 he did a certificate course on Reprography from National Archives of India, New Delhi He also did a course on the Conservation of Art Objects from the National Research Laboratory for Conservation of Cultural Property, Lucknow In 1992 he received the Gold Medal from the Association of Indian University and the Orissa State Award by the Lalit Kala Academy in 1996 He was named Best Photographer by Biscope, Bhubhaneshwar in 2003 The artist has had several solo exhibitions including ‘Nepal and Nepali’, Suchana Bhawan, Bhubaneshwar in 2003, ‘Yatra’, Venkatapa Art Gallery, Bangalore in 2006 and ‘FIFA World Cup - 2006, Orissa State Museum, ‘Kalingana’, Birla Academy, Kolkata – 2006 In 2016 he participated in a group exhibition titled ‘Delhi Uninhibited’, Aalankritha Art Gallery His works drew attention to the desperate need to conserve natural resources Nature and its conservation is what drives Swain and this reflects in his artwork as well He started nature study at the beginning of his career and now it has become a vital part of his work The artist lives and works in New Delhi
