Sachin Chaudhri
Born in 1968, Sachin Chaudhari is a contemporary Indian sculptor who explores the inherent beauty and expressive potential of natural materials through his art. He primarily works with wood, stone, and metal; he transforms raw forms into elegant abstract sculptures that embody balance, flow, and philosophical observation. His works reflect an engagement with nature, inviting viewers to discover harmony within the textures and contours of the material itself.
He received his G D Art in Sculpture and Modelling in 1990 from Sir J J School of Art, Mumbai. Chaudhari has built a distinguished career spanning over three decades. His commitment to sculptural innovation has been recognised through numerous accolades, including the National Akademi Award at the 60th National Exhibition of Art in 2019. He has also participated in several prestigious workshops and sculpture camps organised by the Lalit Kala Akademi and other leading cultural institutions, working across diverse media including stone, wood, and metal.
Chaudhari has presented six solo exhibitions, most notably at the Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, alongside numerous group exhibitions across India. His sculptures have earned praise from eminent artists and critics, including Sadanand Bakre, Prabhakar Kolte, J K Chillar, Arkay and Ranjit Hoskote, who have recognised the technical finesse, philosophical depth and originality of his practice.
Continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary sculpture, Chaudhari remains committed to a practice that reveals the quiet poetry of natural forms. His works stand as meditations on material, space and consciousness, offering viewers a dialogue between nature, abstraction and artistic craftsmanship.
