Born in Maharashtra, the artist completed his BFA (Painting) from Sir JJ School of Art in 1993 In 1997 he featured in an international conference on ‘Postmodernism and its relevance in Indian context’, and a year later, in another international conference on ‘Art, theory and practice’Among his significant solo shows are ‘Spandan’ curated by Niyatee Shinde, Articulate Gallery, Mumbai (2006), and ‘Skeptics’, Jehangir Art Gallery and Gallery Beyond (2004) apart from featuring at Irish Museum of Modern Art Dublin, Ireland (2000), and shows like ‘Recycled’ at Birla Academy of Art and Culture Gallery, Mumbai (1998-99) He has participated in numerous group shows including ‘Mirror/Wall’ Lakeeren & Jehangir Art Gallery (1996), ‘50 years of Art in Mumbai’ NGMA, Mumbai (1997), ‘SIC’, a collaborative installation comprising Photography, sound, video and light, Fine Art Company, Mumbai (2001), ‘Art & Technology’, NGMA, Mumbai (2000), ‘Memos for the new Millennium from Artist of a Molting World’, Birla Academy of Art and Culture, Mumbai, (2000), and Harmony show, Mumbai amongst others Sanjeev Sonpimpare lives and works in Mumbai
