Senaka Senanayake
Born in 1951, Senaka Senanayake is one of the most well established Sri Lankan artists In the late 50’s while he was still very young; Senaka’s works were first exhibited in Colombo He then also held his first international one man show in New York at the age of ten He continued to paint through his teens and held many exhibitions in Sri Lanka, Europe, USA and Asia After his formal training in Art and Architecture at Yale, he was convinced to take up art as a career He was represented by a major international gallery during Art New York in 2018 His works which are highly sought after and are displayed at the White House and the United Nation’s conference hall, highlight the importance and the eco system of rain forests in the present Senaka moved back to Sri Lanka and began to delve deep into environmental issues that plagued his homeland His vibrant surroundings of plush flora and fauna complete with exotic plants, animals and insects are to be seen abundantly on his canvases The artist lives and works in Colombo
