Shovin is an artist who expresses himself across mediums and metaphors, whether it is his sculptures, installations or paintings Thematically, his works deal with the impact of technology and its applications on our daily life The artist is known for using recurring geometric patterns throughout his work that can transform themselves into squares and waves, symbolically representing the evolving nature of the universe Shovin prefers to work with acrylic while painting and uses stainless steel when creating his sculptures “Stainless steel is a medium that I enjoy working with even though it is very demanding and unforgiving Unlike bronze that may be melted and recast and reused, in stainless steel, when one makes a mistake, one usually has to junk the entire piece and start afresh Which is why one has to work meticulously with lots of precision and planning”, says Shovin
Shovin’s works have been exhibited at numerous exhibitions in India and internationally and are held in numerous permanent collections His wide body of work has been presented at a solo show held at Indian Cultural Centre Seoul, South Korea in collaboration with Indian Art Museum, Seoul, South Korea (2011); Alchemy of Art, New Delhi (2011) among others
