Shweta was born in 1984 in Nagpur, Maharashtra She completed her Bachelor’s in Sculpture from Nagpur University and her Master’s in sculpture from MSU Baroda during which she was awarded numerously for his artistic feats up until 2011 She has no fixed medium of choice; instead she lets notion or idea decide the appropriate medium Sculpture and performance pieces are her modal mediums, acting as vehicles for her works, especially involving Women’s issues She has participated in numerous solo shows, recently at Latitude 28 Her group shows include the Lalit Kala National Exhibition, Bombay Art Society, Bombay Art fair and at her alma mater MSU Baroda She has participated in a residency at the Bamboo Curtain Studio Taiwan (2013), supported by Khoj, where she did a performance called ‘Bharat Mata in Taiwan’ based on her struggle in conquering her fears as a woman in her own country She has also been instrumental in organizing the Gram Art Residency in 2014 and has been a part of the Vancouver Biennale Artist Residency Program in 2014, including the group show I Have a Dream, a collaborative global farming project at the Vancouver Biennale, 2014-16 She currently lives and works in her hometown of Nagpur
