Born in 1948, Surjeet Kaur Choyal is a talented painter She completed her MA in Painting in 1969 She studied as a Non-Collegiate student at M S Faculty of Fine Arts, Baroda Her works were deeply influenced by the portraits of the princely states of Rajasthan Through her art, she explores the social and cultural background of the region with women as subjects In 1968 she attended the Rajasthani Fresco course at Banasthali Vidyapeeth to further continue her exploration as an artist and develop her creative vision

The artist has participated in several exhibitions including Confluence des Arts at Gallery Artchill, Jaipur;  Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi, AIFACS, and Bombay Art Society Her works have been showcased in both India and abroad for various solo and group exhibitions Surjeet has been awarded numerous awards such as the Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi award (1970); Mahakaushal Kala Parishad award (1985); Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi award (1985); Academy of Fine Arts award (Amritsar); Airport Authority of India Award (1989); All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society, New Delhi (1990);  All India award by Rajasthan Lalit Kala Akademi (1993); 'Photography as social realism and inspiration’ award by Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India (1991) and more
