Vijender Sharma
Born in 1962, Vijender Sharma is from New Delhi He was a Gold Medalist and completed his Master’s Degree iin Fine Arts from the College of Art, New Delhi He actually began his career by working on book covers and paintings for various TV serials like BR Chopra’s ‘Mahabharata’ He received the Sahitya Kala Parishad Award in 1986, New Delhi He received the Artist of the year award in 2003 and another one at the Harmony show He also received the Pt Ravi Shankar Award in 1990He had his first solo exhibition in 1989 at the Shridharani Art Gallery, New Delhi His latest solo exhibition titled ‘Inner Voices’ took place at the Lalit Kala Akademi, New Delhi in 2014 His solo exhibition titled ‘Balance of Life’ at the Shridharani Art Gallery in 2008 was inaugurated by Dr APJ Abdul Kalam He was actually commissioned to make two portraits of the then president of India Abdul Kalam to be displayed at the Rashtrapati Bhawan His works are mostly figurative and he dabbles with the theme of love, death, spirituality, corruption, hypocrisy and so on He has also participated in the National Exhibition at New Delhi for three consecutive years from 1987-89 Other group shows that he participated in includes ‘Memoirs of an Era’ by Dhoomimal Art Centre, Delhi in 2011, ‘Vignette’ at the Lalit Kala Akademi in 2010 to name a few He is also the founder of an art society called Arts India Movements (AIM)
