Vikash Kalra
Vikash Kalra (b. 1973, New Delhi) is a contemporary Indian artist whose practice spans painting, sculpture and installation. A self-taught artist, he developed his visual language through independent study and sustained experimentation. His work is rooted in abstraction and modernist expressionism, with influences from Pablo Picasso and F N Souza, while maintaining a distinctive personal approach.
Working across different media, Kalra explores expressive form, layered surfaces and dynamic compositions. His practice is often associated with themes of memory, identity, spirituality and the human condition, and his recent work has also engaged with mythology, symbolism and the relationship between humanity and the natural world. Based in New Delhi, he has presented his works at several solo and group exhibitions in India, including at Dhoomimal Gallery and India Habitat Centre.
