William Daniell RA
William Daniell was born in 1769 in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey He was a renowned landscape and marine painter, primarily known for his work in aquatint William’s affair with art began when he was sent to live with his uncle, the landscape artist Thomas Daniell He first came to India in 1784 when he accompanied his uncle Throughout the various travels within the country,William Daniell performed the role of an assistant in executing a series of prints; a project that his uncle had undertakenWilliam Daniell, later on, collaborated with his uncle to publish a list of illustrations titled ‘Oriental Scenery’William Daniell has painted landscapes not only of India but also the various coastlines of Britain Some of his other publications include ‘Voyage to India’, ‘Zoography’, ‘Views of London’ and so on His work has been exhibited in places like The Royal Academy and The British Institution He became a Royal Academician in 1822 His works are a part of many renowned collections including National Portrait Gallery, London; Royal Academy of Arts, London; National Maritime Museum, London; Courtauld Institute of Art, London; Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco; National Museums and Galleries of Wales, Cardiff; Indianapolis Museum of Art, USA; Falmouth Art Gallery, Falmouth, UK; Dallas Museum of Art, Texas; Watford Museum, Watford, UK; National Museum of India, New Delhi The artist continued working right until the very end and passed away on 16th August 1837 at Brecknock Terrace, Camden Town
