Spanish artist Xavier Mascaro was born in Paris in 1965, soon thereafter his family relocated to Barcelona within 3 years of birth Later he got enrolled in the Barcelona School of Fine Arts in 1983 and graduated in 1988 with a specialty in painting Soon, he discovered his artistic interest in sculptures and demonstrated it with numerous materials such as glass, wood, plaster, ceramics, bronze, stone and tin He created his first work in Bronze in the year 1989 and found himself congenial to create art out of iron His art broadly depicted heads, animals and particularly facial expressions like feelings, fears, or longings His major work includes armour, helmets, warriors and stranded ships–symbols from an archaic military context He held his first solo exhibition at the Barcelona Cultural Centre He stayed in New York for 2 years between 1996 and 1998 While living in the famed city he was confronted with a certain foreignness in culture, geography, and language and began to work with his personal cultural context, with icons and symbols of Spanish cultural history

In 2001, his work was exhibited at the famous Malborough Gallery in New York where he gained International recognition In the respective year, he also participated in the 50 Years of Spanish Sculpture Exhibition in Paris In 2008, he installed his stupendous iron artwork: the glorious boat Departure and its Guardians, impressive guardians which is 3 meters high at the Jardin du Palais Royal in Paris Some of the monumental art pieces are installed at Ceuti (Murcia), Jerez de la Frontera (Cadiz) and Pinto (Madrid) He is featured in more than 50 solo exhibitions and 150 group exhibitions Some of his solo exhibition were held at the galleries in Madrid, Malaga, London, Abu Dhabi, Mexico City, New York, Buenos Aires, Caracas, Paris, Düsseldorf, Beirut, Dubai, etc and also in group exhibitions such as Art Madrid, ARCO, Art Cologne, TEFAF, Bologna Arte Fiera, etc He is considered an iconic ar
