Kutch silver is distinguished by its closely worked, foliate, repousse and chased design. The preliminary repousse pattern was punched from the inside, post which they were filled with a resin compound.Thereafter they were worked upon from the outside. When the work was complete, the piece was heated until the resin filling melted out, leaving the now-empty piece stunningly decorated. Silver scroll holders were used in India for the presentation of documents and as presentation cases for departing Colonial administrators. This scroll was designed with a functional cylindrical form, the piece bears superior foliate chased decoration depicting parakeets, peacocks, and other exotic birds. While the silver goblets are lavishly ornamented with the traditional Kutch coriander pattern. Special attention must be given to the fronds that are designed and executed particularly well in Kutchi style not so frequently seen.
