Lot no. 51: Untitled by Suryakant Lokhande

Employing a visual vocabulary that includes elements of pop art and photographic references, Lokhande ponders on the absurdity of the material world where life is perceived from a superficial vantage point and not a purposeful search for one’s true self. Owing to its pop- neon colour compositions, his canvases emanate a sense of vibrancy and give a message about the present times. This translates to this untitled work by the artist executed using oil on fibreglass on a metal stand.

Lot no. 39: Untitled by A Balasubramaniam

Working in a vast variety of mediums, Balasubramaniam explores the natural world and the relationship between the surroundings and the human body. His works mainly feature flowing forms that are organic in nature. He also explores the relationship between contrasts such as light and shadow and the real and abstract. Executed in 2007, utilising fibreglass & silicon, this untitled sculpture by the artist is a perfect example of this.

Lot no. 74: Untitled by L N Tallur

An international contemporary artist of Indian origin, L N Tallur was born in a small village called Koteswara and studied art at various institutions. His works reflect a mix of various themes ranging from the rural influences he had while growing up and those that he was exposed to and acquired while traversing across the globe.

Lot no. 22:  Today Will End by Shilpa Gupta

Shilpa Gupta’s works explore themes of technology, the role it plays in creating fear, censorship, security and the human condition. Utilising various forms of media including installations, sculptures, photography, audio and text,  Gupta examines the psychology and roles that different media play. ‘Today Will End’ is one such sculpture, executed using rice bulbs on a coated iron frame.

Lot no. 32: Untitled (Ed: 30/35) by Ravinder Reddy

Ravinder Reddy’s head form is quintessential with his oeuvre. The imagery formed through this sculpture proffers insights into the future and becomes the bearer of prophetic visions, while at the same time represents the passage of time. This life size sculpture enthralls and communicates with the viewer by radiating emotions though its elongated eyes and facial structure.

Lot no. 110: Hulk by Valay Shende

This sculpture executed in stainless steel discs and plated fibreglass depicts the pop culture figure of the Hulk. It comes from the ever expanding oeuvre of Valay Shende in which he uses stainless steel discs and non-traditional materials such as fibreglass to depict various figures. The usage of circular discs was inspired by the artist’s deep interest in nature and science. This led to the understanding that breaking down the creations of nature all matter is created through atoms and molecules collaborating. In a similar manner, he activates and interconnects the discs to create his works.
