The Exceptionals Highlights from AstaGuru’s upcoming Jewellery, Silver, Timepieces Auction

In its upcoming Jewellery, Silver and Timepieces auction - ‘The Exceptionals’, AstaGuru will be showcasing a splendid collection of highly sought-after jewellery, vintage silver and remarkable timepieces. The catalogue presents the finest works of craftsmanship to emerge from India and Europe and celebrates the rich artistic legacy of the past. The auction is scheduled to be held on October 25-26, 2023.
Speaking of the jewellery section in the catalogue, Jay Sagar, Jewellery Expert, AstaGuru Auction House says, “We are excited to be able to offer a magnificent selection of pieces with rare gemstones in our upcoming auction. From Zambian emeralds to Burmese rubies to Keshi pearls and lustrous diamonds, each piece showcases some of the most popular and rare gemstones of the world. Seasoned collectors and those hoping to start their collection will find both minimal and ornate pieces of various eras that can become heirlooms for the next generations.”
Lot no. 32, our cover lot, is a Suite of Important Emerald and Diamond Jewellery. Inspired by the designs of the Art Deco era, the suite comprises an exquisitely crafted necklace, a pair of ear pendants and a bracelet. Each piece is set in gold with diamonds and oval Zambian emeralds. It is estimated to be acquired at INR 2,37,00,000-2,50,00,000. Another exquisite suite of jewellery, lot no. 38, is estimated at INR 1,00,00,000-1,50,00,000. The Important Burmese Ruby and Diamond Suite comprises a necklace, a pair of matching ear clips and a bracelet. Set in gold and white metal, with finely matched old Burmese rubies, rose-cut diamonds and single-cut diamonds, each piece features an intricate floral motif.
Showcasing the beauty of diamonds, lot no. 28, is an Impressive Diamond Briolette Necklace. The five-row necklace is set in white gold with diamond briolettes, double-drilled diamonds,
oval-cut diamonds and pear shaped diamonds. It is estimated to sell at INR 2,95,00,000-3,00,00,000.
A Pair of Important Diamond & Natural Pearl Ear Pendants, lot no. 37, will also be on offer. The pair is set with old-cut diamonds on white gold, with finely matched natural pearl drops. This is estimated to be sold at a value of INR 63,00,000- 83,00,000. Lot no. 42 is a Vintage Diamond Ring, estimated at INR 52,00,000-60,00,000. The ring is set in 18k white gold with a central old European-cut diamond.
The horology section for the auction will showcase a wide range of both vintage and modern pieces from revered luxury brands such as Rolex, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Chopard and Bvlgari among others. The pieces range from those with high complications to finely crafted bejewelled statement watches.

Lot no. 138 is a Rolex 18k Rose Gold Day Date Wristwatch Ref No. 218235. The watch features a rose gold case with black dial, with a fluted 18k rose gold bezel and ruby baguette set hour markers. It also has automatic movement with day & date function. It is estimated at INR 38,00,000 - 42,00,000.
Lot no. 79 is a Patek Philippe White Gold Annual Calendar Moonface Wristwatch Ref No. 5205G-013. With automatic movement with day, date & month function, the watch features a white gold case with a deep blue dial and a smooth white gold bezel. It is estimated to be sold at INR 37,85,000 - 42,85,000.
Lot no. 158 is a Audemars Piguet Stainless Steel Royal Oak Wristwatch Ref No. 26331. The watch showcases automatic movement with date function and features a stainless steel case with a blue dial with three subsidiary dials, and a screwed down stainless steel bezel. It is estimated to be acquired at INR 38,50,000 - 46,50,000.
Lot no. 130 is a Bulgari 18k Rose Gold & Diamond Serpenti Wristwatch. With a quartz movement, rose gold spring bracelet, the watch comes in a 18k rose gold case with a black dial. It is estimated at INR 15,25,000 - 19,25,000.
Lot no. 154 is a Chopard 18k White Gold Imperial Extravaganza Wristwatch Ref No. 4235. The watch features an 18k white gold case with white sunburst diamond dial, and an 18k white gold bezel and lugs with factory set diamonds. This is estimated to sell at INR 26,00,000 - 36,00,000.
The meticulously curated silver collection features works of intricate craftsmanship of India and impressive pieces from some of the finest silversmiths of Europe.
A testament to European craftsmanship, Lot no. 72 is a European Six-piece Tea And Coffee Set With Tray. The set, executed circa 1900, is decorated with detailed chase work featuring botanical and moth motifs. The set features wooden handles and gold gilt interiors and the associated tray features a fine chase work border.
Lot no. 75 is A Sterling Silver Serving Trolley estimated at INR 15,80,000 -16,80,000. The exquisite trolley features detachable bottle holders, a glass top and shelf. Designed in the Art Deco style, the serving trolley features 4 swan head handles and stands on four wheels.
