Lot no. 17 : Untitled by Meera Mukherjee

Meera Mukherjee was born in 1923 in Kolkata. A painter and sculptor, Mukherjee is mainly inspired by the life of the common man. In both her sculptures and her paintings, she depicts scenes from the everyday life of rural residents. The presented lot, an untitled watercolour on paperwork, is one such example.
Lot no. 200 : Untitled by Anjolie Ela Menon

The presented oil on masonite board painting comes from the varied oeuvre of Anjolie Ela Menon. Inspired by her time in Europe and her study of Byzantine and Roman paintings, the prolific artist uses thin translucent layers of oil to achieve a patina-like effect.
Lot no. 141 : Tree Of Suffering Tree of Enlightenment by Arpana Caur

Acclaimed artist Arpana Caur is known for her powerful portrayals of female figures. She is also inspired by Bhakti poetry and literature, creating spiritual and mystical works such as the presented acrylic on canvas painting. She often depicts symbols inspired by Pahari miniatures and folk paintings.
Lot no. 92 : Manjula’s Dream by Rekha Rao

Rekha Rao, is inspired by her immediate surroundings - be it cities, villages, literature and other media to create colourful, textured works that focus on line and form. The semi-abstract artist sees her surroundings as not just physical but also a spiritual experience. The presented lot, executed in 2013, is an oil and acrylic on canvas work that showcases her richly layered narratives.
Lot no. 93 : Untitled by Maite Delteil

Known for her simplistic figures and serene landscapes, Maite Delteil was born in France in 1933. She translates her thoughts and emotions onto her canvases through motifs from nature and day-to-day life. A perfect example of her oeuvre is this untitled oil on canvas work.
Lot no. 101 : Untitled (Cherry Blossom) by B Prabha

Modernist B. Prabha is known for her elegant, simplistic works that dealt with themes such as landscapes, social issues, still lifes and figurals. She is best known for her decorative figural works documenting the condition of women in the country. The artist’s preferred medium was oil on canvas such as the presented lot, executed in 1967.
Lot no. 190 : Packed House III & IV (A & B) by Zarina Hashmi

Executed in 1994, this lot features two wood cuts printed in black on handmade Nepalese paper, a mainstay for famed artist Zarina Hashmi. The works showcase her masterful command on geometric forms that also symbolise spirituality.
