KOLKATA: AstaGuru’s online auction on November 20 and 21 will present masterpieces and rare compositions by the legends like Jamini Roy, MF Husain and Jogen Chowdhury in which they took a detour from the form of paintings they are famous for. There will be seven more such works by artists such as KG Subramanyan and SH Raza. The exhibits will include a western-style painting of Jamini Roy which he later rejected to find a more Indian form of expression. The landscape work executed in 1925 is a reflection of Roys training in British academic realism. Appearing in an auction for the first time, the work is an example of his practice in the style of impressionism.
