Balasaheb Nathu Chaudhari, born in 1984 in Pune, Maharashtra, is an Indian contemporary visual artist and sculptor known for his deeply textured abstract compositions that explore the organic rhythms, impermanence, and generative vitalities of nature. Known also as Balu Chaudhari, his artistic journey began with a strong grounding in printmaking, most notably collagraphy, where the tactile techniques of embossing, incising, and layering sculptural relief directly shaped his visual sensibility. This formative engagement with print surfaces eventually translated into a versatile multidisciplinary practice spanning textured painting, mixed media reliefs, and sculptural castings that translate fleeting glimpses of the natural environment into ambiguous, evocative pictographs.

Balasaheb Nathu Chaudhari completed his Diploma in Art Education and his Government Diploma in Art (Drawing and Painting) from the Abhinav Kala Mahavidyalaya in Pune. Over the course of his career, his work has garnered institutional recognition, including the CREW Wildlife Painting Award in 2014 and the 56th State Art Exhibition Award in 2016. He lives and maintains his active studio practice in New Delhi.

The artist's practice is defined by an evolving inquiry into the physical and metaphorical limits of his materials, drawing poetic parallels between organic metamorphosis and human interiority. His visual motifs share a close affinity with foundational forms found in the botanical and biological world, such as seeds, leaf veins, cellular meshes, and natural fractures. Chaudhari deliberately juxtaposes contrasting media to evoke divergent emotional registers: handmade paper pulp carries a delicate, fragile, and introspective quality, while materials like industrial cement, cast aluminum, and brass introduce structural permanence, grounded memories, and enduring weight. Through intricate surfaces, relief depths, and the evocative play between light and shadow, his works invite contemplative engagement with the transient yet persistent forces of life.

Balasaheb Nathu Chaudhari has held several notable solo exhibitions, including Breathing Forms at Bharat Bhavan, Bhopal; Meandering Metamorphosis at Triveni Art Gallery, New Delhi; Frozen Shadows at Art Entrance Gallery, Mumbai; Frozen Shadows-2 at Pradarshak Art Gallery, Mumbai; and a solo showcase at Dhoomimal Art Centre, New Delhi. His work has also been featured in numerous curated group shows and institutional venues, including Jehangir Art Gallery in Mumbai, the National Gallery of Modern Art in Mumbai, Sutra Art Gallery in Wisconsin, Niv Art Centre in New Delhi, MS University of Baroda, Thane Kala Bhavan, and the All India Fine Arts and Crafts Society. His works are housed in permanent and private collections, including Bharat Bhavan in Bhopal, Kalavart Nyas in Ujjain, and private collections across India and abroad.
