Patek Philippe 18K White Gold World Time Wristwatch Reference No. 5130-G. Circa 2017. Lot No 30.

Patek Philippe was founded in 1839 in Geneva, Switzerland, and is a part of the Holy Trinity (along with Audemars Piguet and Vacheron Constantin). They have been owned by the Stern family since 1932, and they pride themselves on family-ownership and independence. During their 183 years of existence, the watchmakers at Patek Philippe have crafted some of the most beautiful and complicated timepieces ever made. Patek Philippe occupies a seat at the top of the watchmaking pyramid; is considered as the most prestigious name in watchmaking; its timepieces are among the most coveted and desired in the world; and a Patek Philippe wristwatch is among the most prestigious of status symbols.

Ever since Louis Cottier devised a movement to display time in multiple time zones in the 1930’s, world time timepieces have been an important part of Patek Philippe’s catalogue. When crafted by PP, world time pieces are among the most romantic and beautiful. And this stands true with the Reference No. 5130-G, which was launched in 2006, replacing the earlier Patek Philippe Reference 5110. The inner dial has a guilloche silver sunburst treatment and gold applied hour markers. Its magnifying-glass shaped hour-hand is a beautiful old-world touch. The inner dial is flanked by the 24-hour disc, which also serves as a day-night indicator. This is flanked by the city-name disc. This timepiece is powered by the in-house mechanical self-winding calibre 240 HU and stamped with the Patek Philippe (PP) Seal, in which a patented mechanism, enabled by the push button at 10 o’clock, seamlessly adjusts the city-name disc, 24-hour disc, and the hour-hand, enabling the wearer to change from time zone to time zone in one-hour increments.

The World Time Reference 5130-G is Patek Philippe at its very best. It evokes romantic nostalgia from the past, while being a modern timepiece suited for the present-day globe-trotting entrepreneur - traveler. And a joy to hold and gaze at, whether the gorgeous dial or the calibre 240 HU on the caseback side. A fantastic addition in any timepiece collection.

Patek Philippe 18K White Gold Annual Calendar Wristwatch Reference No. 5146-G. Lot No. 52.

Launched in 2005, the Reference 5146 is an evolution of the Patek Philippe Reference 5035, which when launched in 1996, was the first ever serially produced Annual Calendar timepiece. An Annual Calendar adjusts for months with 30 and 31 days, except for February, where it must be manually adjusted. (In comparison, a Perpetual Calendar automatically adjusts for February and hence Leap Years.) Being an Annual Calendar meant that its pricing, when compared to a Perpetual Calendar, was more accessible to a greater number of collectors. As a result, the Reference 5035 was a game-changer for modern-day Patek Philippe, a legacy which Patek Philippe continued by introducing Reference 5146.

With gold applied hour markers and numerals, luminescent coated hour and minute hands, centre sweep seconds hand, its two subdials conveying the days of the week and months, power reserve indicator, moonphase and date, and powered by the in-house mechanical self-winding calibre 315 S IRM QA LU and stamped with the Patek Philippe (PP) Seal, the 5146 is an extremely handsome and versatile timepiece. It evokes both casual and formal vibes. Perfect for the office, or a casual stroll in jeans or khakis, or a formal evening with a suit, the 5146 can grace all perfectly. Now discontinued, this is a rare opportunity to acquire one of the most important contemporary Patek’s. A fantastic addition to any timepiece collection.

Rolex Oyster Perpetual Stainless Steel Wristwatch Reference No. 124300. Circa 2021. Lot No. 112.

Founded by Hans Wilsdorf and Alfred Davies in 1905 in London, England, Rolex sits at the top of the watchmaking pyramid. Rolex relocated to Geneva, Switzerland after World War I. Rolex is independently owned, and over the decades its timepieces have come to symbolise perfection. Rolex eschews current trends, preferring to evolve its iconic models over time. Rolex will never introduce a material or technology just because ‘others are embracing it.’ One can be rest assured that at any given point of time, a newly launched Rolex represents the absolute best of their research and development, whether it relates to the dial materials, hands, case metal, bracelet, strap, clasp, movement technology and materials.

This current Oyster Perpetual series was launched in 2020 in an assortment of dial colours and case sizes. They evoked the ‘Stella’ dials of the past. The Oyster Perpetual with Green Dial is as simple as it is deceptive. Simple because it is a simple three hander; there is not even a date. It is everything one will ever need. Deceptive, because it incorporates innovative Rolex R&D not so visible to the naked eye. Few of these include Rolex’s proprietary Oystersteel, which is highly resistant to corrosion; it's Oysterbracelet, which is an evolution of the same first introduced in the late 1930’s now honed to perfection; and in-house self-winding mechanical calibre 3230, which offers a significant leap in terms of watchmaking attributes such as precision, power reserve, shock resistance and magnetic fields to name a few. It also incorporates Rolex’s patented state-of-the-art Chronergy escapement.

If there ever is a perfect one watch collection, this is it. Perfect as a casual, semi-formal, or formal timepiece, it can hold its own among timepieces far greater in complexity. In the current global retail landscape, Rolex is incredibly hard to acquire as the demand vastly exceeds supply. More so for this Green Oyster Perpetual. This is a rare once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to acquire an example of a time-only perfection wristwatch.

Rolex 18K Yellow Gold & Diamond Dial Cosmograph Daytona Wristwatch Reference No. 116528. Circa 2001. Lot No. 4.

Rolex Oystersteel Cosmograph Daytona Wristwatch Reference No. 116500LN. Lot No. 118.

Rolex 18K Yellow Gold Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona Wristwatch Reference No. 116508. Circa 2021. Lot No. 123.

The Cosmograph Daytona needs no introduction. Originally introduced in 1963, and according to Rolex, “the Cosmograph Daytona was designed to meet the demands of professional racing drivers.” Affectionately named after the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA, the Daytona is a three-counter chronograph. According to Rolex, “it allows professional racing drivers to measure elapsed time and read average speeds on its trademark tachymetric bezel.” Off the racetrack, the Daytona is one of the most legendary, coveted, and desired timepieces in the world. And one of the most difficult to acquire. Usually, a Daytona is a reward by an authorised dealer for being a long-term loyal customer. Each of the three Lots here are powered by the in-house self-winding mechanical chronograph calibre 4130, which relies on a vertical clutch to activate the chronograph.

Lot No. 4 is crafted in 18K Yellow Gold, with a gold dial with 8-diamond hour markers, an 18K Yellow Gold Bezel with an engraved tachymetric scale.

Lot No. 118 is crafted in Rolex’s Oystersteel, with a black dial, Oyster bracelet, a black Cerachrom Bezel with tachymetric scale.

Lot No. 123 is crafted in 18K Yellow Gold, with a bright green dial, Oyster bracelet, an 18K Yellow Gold Bezel with an engraved tachymetric scale.

Each of the three interpretations is a winner, and a once in a life-time opportunity to acquire one of the most legendary timepieces in the world.
